Magenta Private Island is a fully private island resort off the coast of Placencia, Belize. The island hosts a maximum of 22 guests across 11 private accommodations (8 Grand Villas and 3 Sanctuary Suites), with a full culinary team led by award-winning Chef Anderson, a 56ft private yacht, and an on-site spa. There are never day visitors or outside crowds. Book a single villa, or reserve the entire island for your group alone. Every stay is completely all-inclusive.
Magenta is located off the coast of Placencia, in southern Belize. The island sits within a sheltered lagoon and is approximately 20 minutes by boat from Placencia village. It is surrounded by untouched coral reef, which begins just steps from shore. View on Google Maps →
The island accommodates a maximum of 22 guests across 11 accommodations. For groups larger than 22, we can arrange a hybrid model where additional guests stay at a neighboring property in Placencia and join everyone on the island each day for meals, activities, and celebrations.
Truly private. The island never hosts day visitors, outside diners, or resort crowds; the only people present are overnight guests, a maximum of 22 across 11 accommodations, and the staff who look after them. If you want the island entirely to yourselves, a whole-island buyout guarantees it, with no minimum group size. Either way the island stays quiet, the beach is never crowded, and the team knows every guest by name.
Fly into Philip S.W. Goldson International Airport (BZE) in Belize City. Most US guests connect through Houston, Miami, Dallas, or Atlanta. From Belize City, take a short domestic flight (about 25 minutes) to Placencia Airport (PLJ). We recommend Tropic Air or Maya Island Air, which both offer multiple daily departures. Once you land in Placencia, our private yacht meets you for the transfer to the island. That boat ride is the official start of your Magenta experience.
Yes. Once your stay is confirmed, we coordinate your yacht transfer and can advise on the best domestic flight options and routing. For large groups arriving on different flights, we can stage arrivals at our sister property in Placencia so early arrivals can relax with a drink while the rest of the group lands.
Approximately 20 minutes from Placencia. The water is generally calm within the sheltered lagoon.
No. Magenta operates its own fleet of boats, and your transfer is timed to your actual arrival and departure, whatever the hour. There is no fixed shuttle timetable to plan your flights around and no surcharge for traveling on your own schedule.
No. The all-inclusive rate covers your entire stay from the moment you step aboard our boat: your villa, ocean-to-table dining, a top-shelf bar including wine and champagne, most activities, and the transfer itself. International flights to Belize City and the short domestic hop to Placencia are booked separately, and we are happy to advise on routing and timing once your stay is confirmed.
Immigration and customs at Philip S.W. Goldson International Airport are straightforward and usually take under an hour. From there, connect to Placencia by a short domestic flight on Tropic Air or Maya Island Air, or by a scenic drive down the coast. Once you reach Placencia, our boat is waiting on your schedule, not the other way around.
Most visitors, including US and Canadian citizens, need only a passport valid for the length of their stay and a return or onward ticket; tourist visits of up to 30 days do not require a visa. English is Belize's official language, which makes arrival, driving, and everything after refreshingly simple.
Just tell us where you are. We meet guests in Placencia whether they arrive by domestic flight, by road, or from another property elsewhere in Belize, and we time the boat to your arrival.
Warm year-round. Late November through April is the dry season, with the most reliable sunshine; May through October brings mostly short afternoon showers rather than washed-out days, along with lower seasonal rates. The sea stays warm in every month.
We have two accommodation tiers:
- Grand Oceanfront Villas, 8 units. Arranged in duplex pairs, each villa shares one wall and a large overwater balcony with the neighboring villa: semi-private, but each side has its own hammock suspended over the water. From $1,980/night, double occupancy, all-inclusive. Note: for groups or families booking both villas in a pair, the shared overwater balcony becomes entirely yours.
- Sanctuary Suites, 3 units. Completely freestanding, with no shared walls and no shared spaces. The balconies are oceanfront (not overwater) with full ocean views, and total privacy. Approximately a quarter smaller than the Grand Villas. From $1,780/night, double occupancy, all-inclusive.
Every accommodation is furnished with custom modern designer furnishings and accents, with no expense spared. Each room features full air conditioning, Starlink internet, a Sonos wireless speaker, and an unobstructed oceanfront view.
Grand Villas have enormous overwater balconies with a hammock suspended directly over the water. The balcony is shared between the two villas in each duplex pair, semi-private rather than fully private. Guests consistently describe lying in the hammock at night watching marine life below (eagle rays, manatees, schools of fish) as one of the most memorable experiences of their stay.
Sanctuary Suites are approximately a quarter smaller and completely freestanding, with no shared walls and no shared spaces, which makes them the more private of the two options. Their balconies are oceanfront with full ocean views, though not directly over the water.
Both options are available. Individual accommodations can be booked from $1,780/night. An island buyout (exclusive access to all 11 accommodations and the full island) is available from $16,000/night.

All rates are per night. Food, beverages, and all standard on-island activities are fully included.
Everything. All meals prepared from scratch by Chef Anderson. All beverages, including cocktails, wine, champagne, and fresh-squeezed juices. All standard activities: snorkeling, kayaking, paddleboarding, fishing, sunset cruise on our private yacht, beach volleyball, beach bonfire. Access to the pool and central gathering areas. Island transfers to and from Placencia. The only extras are spa services (priced separately) and any outside excursions you arrange independently.
A few items are not covered in the nightly rate:
- 12% BTB hotel tax: Belize Tourism Board tax, required on all accommodations in Belize.
- 3% service fee: goes directly toward staff bonuses.
- 5% baseline gratuity: for island buyouts only. Most resorts mandate 15 to 20 percent gratuity regardless of service. We don't. We expect our team to provide exceptional service, and if they do, any gratuity beyond the 5% baseline is entirely at your discretion.
- Spa services: priced separately as an add-on.
- Outside excursions: diving trips, inland day trips, and any independently arranged activities are not included.
Food, beverages, and all standard on-island activities are fully covered. There are no menus with prices, no per-drink charges, and no surprise line items beyond the above.
For individual accommodations, we typically require a minimum of 3 nights. Holiday buyout periods (Thanksgiving, Christmas/NYE) require a 5-night minimum. Confirm with us for your specific dates.
Chef Anderson is our award-winning culinary lead: national Taste of Belize champion two years running and Caribbean Silver Medalist. He prepares everything from scratch: fresh bread baked every morning, house-made pastas, ice cream, sauces, and mayonnaise. There are no packages, no shortcuts, and no reheated resort food. Breakfast, lunch, dinner, and all snacks are included. Guests consistently describe the food as Michelin-level quality in a Caribbean island setting. Learn more about dining at Magenta →
Yes. Chef Anderson can accommodate dietary restrictions, allergies, and strong preferences. We simply ask that you let us know before arrival so he can plan accordingly. Please share any specific needs when you confirm your booking.
All beverages are included: craft cocktails, premium spirits, wine, champagne, beer, fresh-squeezed juices, smoothies, soft drinks, and water. Unlike many Belizean resorts that offer "unlimited alcohol" but stock low-quality local spirits, we import top-shelf liquor (Grey Goose, Belvedere, Macallan, Black Label) along with imported wines and champagnes. It adds to our cost, but it's the right choice for our guests. There is no bar tab and no drink menu; everything is included in your stay.
- Snorkeling: Walk directly off the shore into untouched coral reef. Manatees, eagle rays, turtles, and a rich variety of marine life are regularly spotted just feet from the island.
- Pool: The island has a pool set alongside the central gathering area, with an elevated dining terrace and sunset views over the water.
- Kayaking and paddleboarding: Equipment available throughout your stay.
- Fishing: We have a dedicated power fishing boat (separate from the yacht) for fishing excursions. Options include fly fishing for permit and bonefish, deep sea fishing, and casual reef fishing. Half-day and full-day options available.
- Sunset cruise: Sail aboard our 56ft private yacht with cocktails and Chef Anderson's appetizers.
- Island hopping: Explore nearby uninhabited cayes by boat.
- Private beach BBQ and bonfire: Chef prepares a spread on a private beach, under the stars.
- Beach volleyball, soccer, cornhole, horseshoes: All on the island.
- Spa services: Swedish, deep tissue, and hot stone massage, as well as facials, by Niki, our on-site therapist. Available on your private balcony overlooking the water. Priced separately as an add-on.
- Off-island excursions: Snorkeling with nurse sharks, rays, and turtles at nearby Silky Cayes. Inland day trips (best done before your island stay): Cockscomb Basin Wildlife Sanctuary, Mayan ruins, cave tubing, zip-lining through the jungle. We can help coordinate all of these.
This is one of Magenta's most consistent guest highlights. The reef begins steps from the island's edge; you don't need a boat excursion to find extraordinary marine life. Guests regularly encounter manatees, eagle rays, sea turtles, and a wide variety of reef fish within minutes of entering the water. The reef is entirely untouched and protected.
Yes. We partner with a local dive company for equipment, guided dives, and instruction at every certification level, from beginner dives to advanced and master instructor programs. We can also arrange snorkeling excursions to nearby Silky Cayes, where nurse sharks, rays, and turtles are reliably spotted. Just let us know in advance and we'll coordinate everything.
Laughing Bird Caye National Park is just 5 miles from Magenta; it is the southernmost island in the central lagoon of the Belize Barrier Reef, and we can help arrange diving trips there. That said, the snorkeling directly off our shore is already world-class, and some guests have even rented tanks and dived it right from the island. Our private yacht is used for island transfers, sunset cruises, and local island hopping rather than barrier reef excursions, but we're happy to help coordinate with local operators for Laughing Bird trips.
Our 56ft private yacht is used for island transfers (included in all stays), sunset cocktail cruises, and island hopping excursions to nearby cayes. The yacht is captained by Captain Chris and is available during your stay for planned outings.
Our staff-to-guest ratio is nearly 1:1, and every team member arrives knowing your name and your preferences. Guests consistently describe the team as "anticipatory yet not intrusive," knowing exactly when to be present and when to give you space. Most guests leave feeling less like resort visitors and more like family.
Absolutely, and enthusiastically. Families are one of our most frequent guest types: couples with young kids, multi-generational groups with grandparents and grandchildren, and everything in between. Children aren't simply tolerated here; the island is genuinely magical for them. Our own Managing Director's son was 6 on his first visit to Magenta, and he's now a regular. If you've been wondering whether a luxury private island is right for your family, the answer is yes.
It's one of the things families consistently love most about Magenta. Because the island is entirely private with no outside visitors and no public access, children have a freedom that simply isn't available at most resorts. As our Managing Director puts it: "The island is a magical place for the kids to romp without fear: no worry about strangers, no traffic, just open space to roam and explore safely." Parents tell us this sense of freedom is one of the most unexpected and welcome parts of the stay.
All suites have one king bed. For families with younger children or infants, we provide a luxury air mattress or rollaway bed in the room at no additional charge, the same arrangement our Managing Director uses for his own son when he visits. For families wanting more space, a second adjoining villa can be booked at the standard nightly rate (subject to availability), giving older kids or teens their own room right next door.
Grand Villas are arranged in duplex pairs, two villas per building, each sharing a large private overwater balcony with two hammocks. Booking both villas in a duplex pair gives a family the full balcony space to themselves, which is wonderful for families who want room to spread out. It's also an ideal setup for two young families traveling together: each family has their own private villa, but the connected balcony is shared, perfect for the kids to enjoy and for those unforgettable moments watching sea life together. Families who prefer more separation can also combine a Grand Villa with a Sanctuary Suite.
Yes. Most families prefer to bring their own travel crib; we can help source one locally if needed. Just let us know the ages of your little ones and any specific needs ahead of arrival so our team can be fully prepared. Food and drinks for infants and children are included at no additional charge, all part of the all-inclusive experience.
Plenty. The water right off the island is calm, clear, and exceptional for snorkeling at all ages, often the highlight for kids. We also have ocean kayaks, stand-up paddleboards, beach volleyball, soccer balls, cornhole, horseshoes, and more. Our team is happy to tailor both activity schedules and meal times around little ones' routines. Sunset cruises on the 56ft private yacht are a family favorite. For multi-generational groups, the island accommodates everyone: younger kids on the beach, teens and adults snorkeling and paddleboarding, grandparents relaxing on their overwater balcony.
Children sharing a room with their parents are not charged. Food and drinks for children are fully included at no additional charge. A second adjoining villa for older children or teens is available at the standard nightly rate, subject to availability.
Yes. Magenta is a beautiful and entirely private setting for intimate ceremonies. The overwater deck, the beach, and the yacht all offer stunning ceremony backdrops. We provide the venue and the full experience (meals, staff, activities) and we help coordinate every detail: ceremony setup, floral arrangements, officiant coordination, and photography vendors. We work closely with each couple to make it truly one of a kind. Contact us to discuss your vision and available dates.
Absolutely. We love building these moments. Whether it's a champagne arrival, a special birthday dinner on the beach, personalized decorations, or a private yacht moment, let us know what you're envisioning and we'll make it happen. Magenta has been the setting for proposals, milestone birthdays, anniversaries, and vow renewals.

Yes. We are committed to environmental stewardship: we ask all guests to use reef-safe sunscreen to protect the coral ecosystem directly off our shore, and our culinary program emphasizes fresh, local ingredients.
