Magenta Private Island operates as an exclusive private island resort. All reservations require a minimum stay of three nights (5 nights during peak or holiday periods).

Deposit Requirements

Standard Dates: 30% deposit due at time of booking
Peak/Holiday Dates: 50% deposit due at time of booking

Final Payment

Standard Dates: Balance due 60 days before arrival
Peak/Holiday Dates: Balance due 90 days before arrival

For full island buyouts or large group bookings, terms are quoted case by case. Typically, we require a 50% non-refundable deposit upon signing the agreement, with the balance due 90 days prior to arrival.

Upon receipt of your deposit, you will receive a confirmation email containing your reservation details, arrival instructions, and pre-arrival concierge contact information. Our team will reach out approximately 30 days before your arrival to begin customizing your experience.

Travel Insurance

We strongly recommend purchasing comprehensive travel insurance at the time of booking. Travel insurance can protect your investment against unforeseen circumstances including illness, weather events, flight cancellations, or travel disruptions. Please note that the resort does not waive cancellation penalties for weather, flight delays, or personal reasons—travel insurance is your best protection against unexpected changes to your plans.

Cancellation & Modification Policy

Standard Season Cancellations

For reservations during standard season dates:

  • More than 30 days before arrival: Free cancellation with full refund
  • 15-30 days before arrival: Deposit forfeited, remainder refunded
  • 14 days or less before arrival: 100% of total stay charged (no refund)

Peak/Holiday Season Cancellations

For reservations during peak or holiday season dates:

  • More than 60 days before arrival: Free cancellation with full refund
  • 60 days or less before arrival: 100% of total stay charged (no refund)

Group or Island Buyout Cancellations

For full island buyouts or large group bookings, cancellation terms are quoted case by case. Typically, cancellations made within 90 days of arrival result in forfeiture of 100% of the total booking cost.

No-Show and Early Departure

Failure to arrive for your reservation (no-show) or early departure from the island will result in charges for 100% of the total stay with no refund.

Modification of Reservations

Changes to your reservation dates are subject to availability. Modifications requested within the cancellation penalty periods outlined above will be subject to the applicable cancellation charges.

Weather, Travel Disruptions & Force Majeure

Important: The resort does not waive cancellation penalties for weather events, flight delays, or personal reasons. We strongly encourage all guests to purchase comprehensive travel insurance at the time of booking to protect against unforeseen circumstances.

In extraordinary circumstances involving named hurricanes or force majeure events that make the island inaccessible, we will work with guests on a case-by-case basis. However, standard cancellation policies apply to routine weather conditions, tropical storms, and travel delays.

Payment Terms

Accepted Payment Methods

We accept major credit cards (Visa, Mastercard, American Express), and wire transfers. Please note that wire transfers must be received at least 5 business days before scheduled arrival. International wire transfers may incur additional banking fees.

Currency

All prices are quoted in US Dollars (USD). Any currency conversion fees are the responsibility of the guest.

Transfers and Third-Party Services

Transportation transfers, diving excursions, mainland tours, and other third-party services are prepaid and non-refundable once confirmed, unless the service can be re-sold to another guest. Please plan your activities carefully and communicate any changes as early as possible.

Additional Charges

Your quoted rate includes accommodations, meals and beverages (including house selection of imported / specialty or premium bottles available upon request with our guest services team – certain  premium liquors may have a surcharge). Many activities are also included, including sunset yacht cruise (weather permitting), snorkelling, kayaking, paddleboarding, beach games and select island exploration cruises when available. Additional charges may apply for spa services, special excursions, and premium alcohol selections.  A detailed invoice will be provided during your stay.

Gratuity

Your rate does not include gratuity for staff. We believe exceptional service deserves recognition, and gratuities are customary and greatly appreciated by our team. Rest assured, you will not be approached for tips during your stay. Gratuity may be added at the conclusion of your visit, and you are welcome to recognize individual staff members who made your experience particularly memorable.

Arrival & Departure

Transportation

Private boat transfer from Placencia is included in your reservation. Our team will coordinate your transfer based on your flight arrival time. Standard check-in time is 3:00 PM, and check-out is 11:00 AM. Early arrival or late departure may be accommodated based on availability.

Flight Guidelines

Guests should plan to arrive at Philip S.W. Goldson International Airport (BZE) in Belize City. Guests may then either take a short “puddle hopper” flight from BZE to Placencia Airport (PLA), where our driver and luxury van will collect your group and your bags. Alternatively, guests who wish to explore the mainland may choose to drive from BZE to Placencia at their leisure. This is a 2 hour 40 minute drive.

We recommend arriving no later than 3:00 PM to ensure comfortable daylight transfer to the island. Our concierge team will provide detailed transfer instructions upon booking.

Guest Conduct & Resort Guidelines

Age Requirements

Magenta Caye welcomes guests of all ages. Children under 16 must be accompanied by an adult at all times while on the island. Parents and guardians are responsible for supervising their children, particularly around water features, the beach, and dock areas.

Respectful Behavior

We ask all guests to be respectful of other visitors, staff, and the natural environment. Behavior that disrupts the peaceful enjoyment of others or damages property may result in dismissal from the resort without refund.

Smoking Policy

Magenta Caye is a smoke-free resort. Smoking is strictly prohibited in all rooms, balconies and shared public structures. It is only permitted in designated outdoor areas, being mindful of wind direction and impact on other potentially non-smoking guests. Please ask our staff for designated smoking locations upon arrival.

Environmental Stewardship

Magenta Private Island is an eco-conscious, sustainable island. We generate our own power using cutting edge solar technology, and we use that power to create our own desalinated water supply that is prepared through reverse osmosis. As such we ask guests to be mindful of water and power usage, and to take care of the beautiful yet fragile reef ecosystem that surrounds our island. We are committed to protecting Belize’s pristine marine environment. We ask guests to use only reef-safe sunscreen, avoid disturbing marine life, and follow all guidelines provided by our dive and snorkel instructors. Single-use plastics are discouraged throughout the resort.

Health & Safety

Medical Considerations

Magenta Caye is located on a remote private island. While we maintain a comprehensive first aid facility and trained staff, we are approximately 45 minutes by boat from mainland medical facilities. Guests with serious medical conditions should consult their physician before traveling. We strongly recommend travel insurance that includes medical evacuation coverage.

Dietary Requirements

Please inform us of any dietary restrictions, allergies, or special requirements at least 14 days before arrival. Our culinary team is experienced in accommodating various dietary needs including vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free, and kosher requirements. Last-minute requests may be difficult to accommodate due to our remote location.

Water Activities

All water activities are at guest’s own risk. We provide life jackets and safety equipment, and require safety briefings before participating in water sports. Guests who are not confident swimmers must wear life jackets during all water activities.

Diving Requirements

Scuba diving requires current certification. We require all divers to present valid certification cards and complete our dive waiver. If you are not certified, we offer PADI courses with advance arrangement. Diving is governed by standard recreational diving safety limits.

Privacy & Photography

Guest Privacy

We respect the privacy of all our guests. Our staff is trained to provide attentive yet discreet service. We do not share guest information with third parties except as required by law or to facilitate services you’ve requested.

Photography & Filming

Personal photography is welcome throughout the resort. Commercial photography or filming requires advance written permission. The resort occasionally photographs or films public areas and activities for marketing purposes. If you prefer not to be photographed, please inform our staff.

Liability & Damages

Guest Responsibility

Guests are responsible for any damage to resort property or furnishings caused during their stay. We will assess damage charges to the credit card on file. Accidental damage should be reported to staff immediately.

Lost & Found

While we make every effort to secure guest belongings, the resort is not responsible for lost or stolen items. We recommend using in-room safes for valuables. Lost items will be held for 90 days before disposal or donation.

Limitation of Liability

Magenta Private Island Resort, its owners, and staff are not liable for injury, loss, or damage to persons or property during your stay, except where caused by our negligence. Guests participate in all activities at their own risk. This limitation applies to the fullest extent permitted by law.

Website & Communications

Accuracy of Information

We strive to ensure all information on our website and in our communications is accurate. However, services, amenities, and policies may change. We reserve the right to modify offerings and will notify affected guests of any significant changes.

Email Communications

By making a reservation, you consent to receive email communications from Magenta Private Island regarding your booking, pre-arrival information, and post-stay follow-up. You may opt out of marketing communications at any time.

Special Requests

Special Occasions

Celebrating something special? We love creating memorable experiences for anniversaries, proposals, birthdays, and other milestones. Please inform us at least 30 days in advance so our team can arrange something extraordinary. Additional charges may apply for elaborate arrangements.

Dietary & Accessibility Needs

We accommodate most dietary requirements and accessibility needs with advance notice. Due to our remote location and the island’s natural terrain, some mobility limitations may exist. Please discuss specific requirements with our reservations team before booking.

The Fine Print

Governing Law

These policies and all reservations are governed by the laws of Belize. Any disputes arising from your stay or reservation shall be resolved in the courts of Belize.

Changes to Policies

Magenta Private Island reserves the right to modify these policies at any time. Changes will be posted on our website, and the “Last Updated” date will be revised accordingly. Reservations are subject to the policies in effect at the time of booking unless otherwise required by law.
